Working with Churngold Construction Ltd, SDS recently completed the installation of a surface water attenuation tank for Swindon Hospital.

Since its opening in 2002, the hospital provides care for up to 300,000 people each year, with over 400 beds covering the needs of the community.

The hospital’s construction of a new Emergency Department, including a Children’s Emergency Unit, started in the Spring of 2022, supported primarily by a government grant of £26.3 million alongside £5.5 million from internal sources. This substantial investment, marking the hospital’s most significant financial commitment to date, will bolster urgent and emergency care services, supplementing recent additions such as the Urgent Treatment and Radiotherapy Centres.

The initiative aims to streamline operations to accommodate Swindon’s burgeoning population, thereby improving patient flow and staff preparedness. Furthermore, the Hospital Trust’s charity, Brighter Futures, has launched a £1.6 million appeal to enhance the new Emergency Department with specialised equipment and amenities.

The SDS installation team completed its part of the project shortly after Easter.
